Simon Murray

Mr. Murray is the Chairman and founder of SMC and GEMS. Having lived in Asia for over 40 years,
he has extensive experience investing and operating in finance, transportation, natural resources,
infrastructure and power sectors.

Mr. Murray is currently Chairman of Gulf Keystone Petroleum, an independent exploration and prod-
uction company, quoted on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange plc. (LSE:GKP). He also
sits on the boards of Cheung  KongHoldings, Compagnie Financière  Richemont S.A.,  Essar Energy,
IRC Limited and Orient Overseas. He was the Chairman of Glencore Plc, the world’s largest natural
resources  trading company  and has previously  served on the boards or  held advisory positions at
Vodafone,  Huawei,  Tommy Hilfiger, Vivendi  Universal, Hermès, General  Electric (USA),  CNOOC,
Macquarie Bank, NM Rothschild, Unisor SA and Bain & Company.

Prior to founding SMC and GEMS Mr. Murray was the Group Managing Director of Hutchison Wham-
poa responsible for developing the Group’s energy business through the acquisitions of Hong Kong
Electric and Husky Oil. He also helped  transform the Group into  the world’s leading port operator.
He remains a director of  Cheung Kong Holdings which controls transport, infrastructure and power
businesses across China.
